The city, which offers an extraordinary combination of naturalistic and cultural attractions, overlooks the sea in the center of the Gulf of Asinara, on a promontory that slopes gently towards the Nurra plain. With a population of about 22,000 inhabitants, Porto Torres preserves two millennia of history, witnessed by its archaeological treasures and monuments that tell its past, all immersed in the wild nature of the Asinara National Park.

Marina di Sorso

Distance: 10 Km – 15 Min.

Marina di Sorso is located in the north-western part of Sardinia, within the Gulf of Asinara. Its beach is the continuation of the long coastline of Platamona and is characterized by a wide sandy shore, enriched by the presence of rare sea lilies and surrounded by typical Mediterranean scrub. This splendid expanse of fine sand, located in the center of the Gulf of Asinara, is one of the most welcoming and popular beaches in the north-west of Sardinia.

Alghero

Distance: 40 Km – 45 Min.

Alghero is a historic city located in the far north of the western coast of Sardinia, as well as a renowned tourist center, known as the capital of the Riviera del Corallo. The city preserves the influences of the Catalan domination intact, so much so that it is also called Barceloneta. Alghero boasts a very varied natural landscape, ranging from fine sandy beaches to cliffs characterized by flat or jagged stones. One of the most popular places for the panoramic view is the promontory of Capo Caccia, located a short distance from the Villaggio Torre del Porticciolo. Here is the famous cliff in the shape of a sleeping giant, which has become one of the symbols of Alghero. Another symbol of Alghero is the red coral, known for its high quality, which is still fished today by coral divers. The processing and sale of coral have had a centuries-old economic and cultural importance, so much so that the branch of coral has been included in the city’s coat of arms.
